Rather than being precisely because of the topic, Stine explained that he didn’t find the right mix of humor and horror in the first entry, a combination he will continue to perfect in future entries.

“I already thought so [Welcome to Dead House] It was too scary for the series. It did not have a balance of humor and intimidation, and I corrected that in the second book, stay out of the vault,‘ Stein explained to Hey ho! entertainment. “When the scenes started to get a little more intense in this book, I made sure to put something funny. That’s what I’ve stuck with since. There are two books that stand out as more scary than the others, but I think they’re mostly the right balance.”

Welcome to Dead House It was described, “11-year-old Josh and 12-year-old Amanda have just moved into the oldest and weirdest house in the building – the two brothers think it might be haunted! But of course, their parents don’t believe you’ll get used to it, they say. Go out and make new friends. …but scary kids aren’t like anyone Josh and Amanda have met before. And when they take a shortcut through the cemetery one night, Josh and Amanda learn why.”

While Stine might think his first entry was the scariest, like the books monster blood or haunted mask It might be more memorable for readers, since they got a sequel. Probably the most famous is the Slappy, the talking belly doll, which debuted live doll night And returned for several more entries. In terms of Slappy’s popularity, Stine thinks it’s all due to his appearance in The scream of terror Movies.

“I had no idea! I think it became more central because of The scream of terror Films, “Author details.” People really liked him in the movies. But I didn’t really plan it to be a thing. I don’t really get slappy! I don’t know why people think it’s so scary. I love writing it because it’s like an insulting comedian – it’s so disgusting to everyone. So I love writing those things. But now it’s my contract that every other book has to revolve around Slappy. Believe me, it is not easy to come up with intrigues about a doll that comes to life. ”

a The scream of terror The Disney+ TV series is currently in development.
